have no means to reproduce the problem now (reinstalled OS), and the

Affects Ubuntu 16.04 setup with Dell Inspiron 3537 laptop and external
HDMI monitor. Tends to happen when closing a lid and then unplugging
HDMI cord.
THIS IS NOT FIXED AND IT MAKES ME PULL OUT MY HAIRS.

I'm running Ubuntu 16.04, and sometimes when my system freezes, I need
to unfreeze it via Ctrl+Alt+F1 + typing `sudo pkill -u `. When
doing this, 100% of the times desktop settings are reset (the ones that
are set with the tweaker - or something - app).

1. right click mouse on desktop and select New Document -> Untitled
The file Untitled.desktop appears.
2. Right click on the file and select Rename.
3. In the file name dialog box, rename as follows:
From: Untitled.desktop
To: Unt
UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install)
Yes it was a fresh install. I installed Bionic Beaver x64, one week
ago. It was not an upgrade, it was a "clean" install on a newly
formatted disk drive.
