Sebastien Bacher ~seb128: this Bug is also related to other gnome Apps
like gnome-document-viewer (is it called so?). Here you also can't print
e.g. pdf-files. In my case: I see two printers and equal which one I
select, it gets not the current status to perform a print-job.
Please see:

FOREMOST, IT'S A WARNING TO ALL USERS WHICH HAVE MAYBE THE SAME ISSUE.
HANDS AWAY FROM MANUALLY INSTALLING OF CUPS ON UBUNTU!!!
I thought that my problem could only have been caused by an error in the
cups system.
Foremost I did this from comment 3:

Public bug reported:
don't know why, but i'm no more able to add a printer or make specific settings
and also unable to remove it.
Now i must switch to another app which is able to do that all.
By the way: why i see my printer twice? It's in fact installed once only.
Sorry, German GUI:

I really don't know what is happened that this problem can have cause.
I've upgraded to 24.04.1 and my previous working printer (the same then now)
has stopped working and on the next reboot I saw this like described here.
I'm not sure what this problem has cause:
- cups bug?
- missing files for
1.) I Upgraded 22.04.* LTS AMD to 24.04.1 LTS AMD
All was fine - except my Printer has stopped working (this has worked before
the Upgrade!), but is installed again.
This https://ibb.co/Sfxz7nY I didn't see in this first Step
2.) After a new reboot on the next day, I saw this
https://ibb.co/Sfxz7
next issue found: https://ibb.co/znX2Tkp
If you enable the Dock, the slider goes for seconds to the right and jumps
immediately to left again (disables it agin).

okay, thanks for explanation but what coming next?
We cannot leave a "broken" thing and go on ...
As I Upgraded to 24.04.1 LTS the Printing stuff (or systemd stuff) is going
broken and isn't fixed since then, and we are now on 24.04.2 LTS.

"Marc has tried to get rid of the Debian packages of CUPS" this isn't true.
If Ubuntu 24.04.1 hadn't destroyed my printed stuff, I wouldn't have done
anything with it! Everything I did afterwards, I did out of forgiveness!
