Patch series submitted to upstream bugzilla and mailing list email sent.
Working great with my internal hard drive, usb drive, and CD. After
upstream discussion I have implemented this so that the window you

I've submitted a patch upstream that turns off the desktop border.
Tested it by renaming, changing theme and changing font. Hopefully it
will be fixed soon.

I should remove it from here. Unclutter (from comment #20) seems like it

I think I was browsing DAAP shares, then went back to my library. I
tried to quit Rhythmbox, but it didn't close, and was otherwise

Hi Bernhard. Your issue with the Homosapien window border theme is
entirely different from this issue. That theme has a white border around
windows by design. You'll have to either ask the author of the theme
about it or change it for yourself.

Bernhard, the theme is definitely doing this. Do you know how to edit the theme
manually? Open up:
/home/$USER/.themes/Homosapien [Small | Medium |
Large]/metacity-1/metacity-theme-1.xml
Find the tag that starts like tags to have
value="0". There, no more white border.

I had a look at this today, scrolling through pages of gtk & gdk stuff.
I have tried coding up a potential solution, and the preliminary patch

tested in any way, it was just to see where I could solve the problem.

I have submitted a new patch upstream, thus am marking this "In progress".

How about special casing the Desktop context menu:
"Eject" for Optical Drives and "Safely Remove" for anything else.
Advanced users can still "Unmount" in the Places sidebar context menu, while
average users will (hopefully) see the eject button and not need to worry about
what Unmount means.

I've looked through the problem and believe I have a solution. I have
tried to test it out with different combinations of mount folders open
etc. At the moment, the main reported problem is solved here, I can
launch partition from Places and unmount without losing the window.
Thus, taking it upstre
Still in progress; my quick fix wasn't quite right. I'm discussing with
upstream via mailing list about best way to properly implement the fix,
which will probably be of the form "don't close window where you
unmounted from".
