I have not touched the nautilus configuration files at all. The upgrade
to Intrepid didn't go as smooth as I hoped, though, so something might
have gone wrong there (all I did was reinstall a few packages, which
might have been nautilus too).
If you need any more information, please let me know.
I noticed that the latest release (1:2.24.1-0ubuntu1) of nautilus fixed
it. You can close those bug report.

gdm needs to have root permissions to start and is usually started by
Upstart. Could you give us the output of the following command?
initctl status gdm
And could you also check if /etc/init/gdm.conf exists? If not, then try
reinstalling the gdm package.

Was this bug fixed? The bug no longer seems to occur with the latest
version of sound-juicer (2.26.1-0ubuntu1), however the bugreport
upstream is still unresolved.

Reopening the file with Adobe Reader shows the correct selections.
Reopening it with Evince shows: page 1: "5. Qualifying widower", page
2: "Itemized Deduction", page 4: "Owe" and "Savings".
I hope this helps to pinpoint
I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 (intrepid), kernel 2.6.27.11-generic, gnome

You can easily reproduce this with 1040NR tax forms for 2008.
Given the kind of problem and the place where it shows up (filing tax
returns) I'd certainly jump the importance to high.
