Thanks for the response. Searching on the Internet I found that this is a
bug/feature of Firefox.
No matter what I set the download preferences to ie nothing it would always
open rpm's in Totem.

Well, I did include the URL. It works fine on Xandros, and also once I
"corrected" Firefox
so as not to automatically try to start downloaded files it works fine on
Firefox. btw othe rpm's
also failed in the same way, I
ct as far as I can tell.
Ubuntu 8.04, internet update from 7.10. I do have about 6,500
jpg's.

After
I found this problem as follows:-
1. Click on 'Places'
2. In the places panel, click on 'search for files'
3. In the Search for files panel insert 'name contains' Jpg and 'look in
folder' File system, click find.
4 In my system many jpg's are listed, often with incorrect thumbnails. ie the
thumbn
Here it is, I hope it helps. The thumbnails towards the top are OK, the blue
ones lower down
are incorrect, ie if you click on them they bring up a different, but correct,
picture.
I have about 5,500 photo's if that has anything to do with it.
