I have the no application issue also. sometimes it will work, sometimes
not. Sometimes it will display the error and then still work for a
little while.
I am new to Ubuntu so I have not intentionally installed any firewalls.
However, I do not know if any come with the default install.

thanks for your post. I was hoping there was a way to fix this without
disabling windows name resolution.
You say that it is a bad idea in general to use wins resolution. Is
there a better way to resolve windows host names especially when using a
DHCP server?

I am also having this problem using Hardy 64bit.
I have 4GB of Ram so Nautilus is not crashing but it runs extremely slow
(can take minutes to list directory contents) when listing large
directories on my ntfs usb external drives as well as my internal ext3
drive.
Currently Nautilus is using up 1
I apologize because I am a newb. However, the backtrace seemed to reveal
nothing since nautilus never actually crashed for me. Here is what I
did:
1. started nautilus using gdb as directed in the wiki above.
2. I browsed to my /usr/lib folder
3. after about 10 seconds my nautilus went gray (I bel
sorry. typo. step 5 should say "I then forced nautilus to quit."

Perhaps my problem is different. However, if I open my /usr/lib folder
(with no video files in it) Nautilus will not display the folder
contents for minutes and maybe longer. It has gotten up to 1.5GB on my
machine while I was waiting for it to display.
Perhaps it happens on any large folder.
