I use 10.04 on an Acer Aspire 1 netbook and a Lenovo External USB DVD drive.
It all worked well with the previous version of Ubuntu (9.something). The DVD
works perfectly when I inset one from a Linux magazine.
Now I cannot burn CD's now
No Worries I'll have a go. I also have the older 9.xx DVD. and other Ubuntu
derivatives that I 'll try to see which work.

I don't have an external monitor attached, but docking the laptop
disables the on-board VGA port and enables the one on the UltraBase.

This looks like a bug in poppler.
pdfimages -f 1 -l 1 icse98.pdf x
creates x-000.pbm
display x-000.pbm
also shows the image flipped vertically.

I had this working just recently, but wanted to check to see if the bug
was still bugging.

Another note: I've noticed the use of googlemail.com as some of the
gmail domains. As far as I can remember, google is no longer using that
domain name. This may be the issue in the calendar too. On setting up
the calendar, Evolution will seemingly freeze with noticable network

I am seeing this bug when playing mp3 embedded in Firefox. I was

This problem occurred when I upgraded to 9.10 RC (I wrote 9.04 RC above,
but I meant 9.10). When I did a clean installation of 9.10, the problem
did not occur. I suspect that pollution unique to my system accounts
for the problem, so I recommend ignoring my report.

This happens to me as well. In addition, mplayer will show subtitles by
default, which it should not do, so presumably the bug is in some
underlying codec library. However, in mplayer I can turn them off by
hitting 'v'.
