Hi! That's a GNOME bug: the one-part GNOME menue uses the three-part menue (apps, system, places) and its style options. It's unlikely to be fixed as a new GNOME menue is in work and will probably be released with GNOME 2.22. But if someone wants to hack in, a fix for 2.20.1 would be possible.
