Same thing happened on my system. I left it idling overnight and when I
unlocked the screen in the morning, Gaim had unexpectedly closed.

This problem started occurring for me on Ubuntu 7.04. With my upgrade
to Ubuntu 7.10, the problem disappeared. Hopefully this will be some
kind of clue as to what's going on, though I don't know enough to figure
it out myself.
