I'd like to reproduce it, but Im not sure how totem was even running,
does gnome screensaver use totem in some way? since the screensaver was
active at the time this occured.

I think a better solution to this is simply make samba part of the
ubuntu-desktop meta package, this IS a desktop. By default with no
folders shared you get no inherent security risks.

I think this is due to you using the desktop effects, as they treat individual
workspaces as one workspace to gnome.
Gnome providing the workspace switcher, not compiz. Does this behavior
continue when you disable desktop effects?

It looks like the URL the lyrics plugin uses it no longer valid, I've
attached a patch that lets it fetch lyrics from the web search URL, but
judging by the website the database seems to be down, or the search
function is broken.

I think this is not a bug, and the last time you updated your system it
was interrupted, have you opened a console and run 'sudo dpkg
--configure -a' followed by 'sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-
upgrade' to straighten this out yet?

I was just trying to see if I could make this happen, and the only way
was incorrect R/W permissions on the directory connected_servers/ ? Have
you checked your permissions? I'm really not sure how they would have
become incorrect however.
