In the most recent version in jaunty, libvte9-udeb depends on
libncurses5, due to being linked against libtermcap. This is a
disallowed dependency and causes debian-installer to fail to build.
It looks like vte 0.19.4 requires some work in order to be able to build
without nc

any rate a test-build no longer shows this dependency, but I haven't
checked that the .debs still work, and I don't know vte well enough to
feel comfortable uploading this myself).

Actually, Emilio, the -11 kernel was just moved to -updates; however, it
takes a couple of hours from the time you see the bug closing message to

It's just the opposite of a trap; it's a further safety measure. It
arranges that, *even if* an autotools update is accidentally run, then
everything will still work. The intention is not that an autotools
update *should* be run - I agree that that is often risky - but to
provide insurance in case
The core bug here is that /lib/init/splash-functions doesn't shut down
usplash cleanly, but instead just SIGKILLs it before it has a chance to
clean up after itself.
However, upon fixing that I find that the introduction of splash-
functions has meant that /etc/init.d/gdm no longer knows how to wa
(IMO this is a bug because, while FAT32 isn't case-sensitive, it is
case-preserving.)

I've removed it, but there's no need to blacklist it since auto-sync
won't automatically sync packages that aren't currently in Ubuntu but
that have previous publications in Ubuntu. I prefer to keep the
blacklist minimal for ease of maintenance.
