I am assuming that this bug refers to the quick search feature (if that
is what it is called) where just starting to type a file or folder name
filters names in the current folder. In which case it is not a
duplicate of a long standing bug #334125

I see this too. In nautilus click on search icon and then All Files.
Nothing is found whatever is typed in search field. Search within the
folder works.

Actually having said that Michael's suggestion works perfectly is not
strictly true. Firstly note that for me it works best if I set the
actions in System Settings > Power for lid close to Do Nothing, but even
then I sometimes have problems with it not correctly recognising the
external monitor on
As I understand it unity-2d is to be removed in Quantal(12.10),
emulation of 3d being provided by llvmpipe for hardware that does not
support it, so that Unity (3d) will run. From that point of view it
appears that this bug becomes irrelevant from 12.10. That is unless
there are other use cases.

Not for me with Custom Shortcuts it isn't. Using gnome-control-center
1:3.3.92-0ubuntu4 on Precise:
System Settings > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Custom Shortcuts
Click + and enter name and command, Apply.
The prompt at the bottom says to click a row and press keys. Clicking a row
pops up the comma

Cant change keyboard shortcuts
In Appearance > Behaviour it would be in the same place as whether to
hide the launcher, so all launcher config would be in the same place.
On the other hand Displays is where the positioning of the displays is
setup and there is the picture showing the layout, so in that case it is
better there.
@Jeremy, yes it is much improved, I did not mean to indicate otherwise. The
original bug as described is still there however. It is confusing to see a
dialog showing the Custom Shortcuts which says "To edit a shortcut, click the
row and ..." when in fact this does not work.

After running a system for a while I find this symptom has disappeared.
I assume that either the bug has been fixed or another app has dealt
with the situation more intelligently and the file has been created
successfully, so that the error is no longer seen when using gedit.

I don't know, sadly I trashed my virtual machine and am not able to re-
generate it at the moment. Looking at my description I note that I said
it was an issue with Oneric whereas I meant Precise of course (as is

is ok if I select suspend from the indicator but if I press the power
button and select suspend from the popup then it does not ask for
password on resume. I cannot try closing the lid as suspend/resume via

I had this problem but I think I have just found the cause. The comment
at the bottom of the window says "To edit a shortcut, click the row and

end of the row where it shows the existing shortcut or Disabled. The

I have taken the liberty of changing this back to incomplete as it seems to be
fixed in Unity but not Unity-2d.
To replicate, in Unity-2d:
Open nautilus and start a file copy operation going.
Note that the nautilus launcher now shows two markers for the two windows, but
Alt-Tab does not show the
DESKTOP_SESSION is ubuntu-2d
I saw the note at the end of comment #11 that a specific test was being made
for unity, and thought that the problem may be that this did not include 2d.

There is no crash report being generated and when the crash occurs I do
not get the popup asking me if I want to report a problem. All that
