it seems as though this problem is more related somehow to bug 20.
My keyboard has been on the fritz as well since 10.04, where it would
stop working periodically. To solve that problem I tried the proposed
fix in that bug report which solved that issue, and it appears it solved

sorry for the late reply. All I have to do is reboot my computer. I
don't know of any other way. All I can tell you is that I'm using a
Logitech DiNovo keyboard + mouse combo. It has a USB/Bluetooth dongle
that has coused som problems in the past, and starting with Lucid it
registers as a blue
