Attached a picture. Icon circled in red should not be there, icon in
green should and is normal. The empathy icon only shows if empathy isn't
in front.

Okay, it seems the latest updates fixed this issue. I updated yesterday,
and since restarting empathy, it has stopped doing this. I don't know
what updated (I was paying attention -_-*. but if you know a way to look
at update history, I definitely will get that info), but both empathy
and gnome-she
Huh. If you set yourself to "Available" the bug appears; if you set it to
"Idle", bug doesn't appear, but you can still chat. Might not be fixed, but at
least that gives us more info as to what is going on.
I will continue filing a bug report upstream and link back here.
