times are one of the big focuses of the latest computers and OSs like
the Air and Google's Chrome OS netbook. Not being able to type in your
information for 4 or 5 seconds and having to hit several keys to get the
prompt to come up

There's a workaround, but it's another program - Okular.
In synaptic install Okular. Once Okular is open press "F7" to turn off
the sidebar. Then go to "Settings", "Configure Okular", and remove the
check next to "Show hints and info messages."
Next, in Nautilus right-click on any pdf. Click "pro
I take it back. In PDFs without a table of contents, the above works.
However, when there's a table of contents Okular shows it every time,
and doesn't save even on a per-file basis.
If anyone figures out a way to show nothing but the PDF itself please

When I've been connect to MSN and Facebook for a while, I open up
empathy and go to "offline". However, only facebook disconnects. MSN
absolutely will not disconnect. Even if I kill empathy manually, if I go
to the messaging applet and click on ch
Just saw it again. I think it may be related to disconnecting without
logging out of messaging first. Again, I'm fully updated, so that's not
the problem.

You probably don't need more confirmation, but I've got the same issue
in a fully-patched intrepid. Oddly, I'm only running in accessibility
mode because I didn't want to have metacity making the odd animations
for window maximize and minimize (turned on low-resources mode in
gconf), and then turne
I'm experiencing the same issue. However, I didn't have this same
problem under Gutsy 32-bit. I'm now running Hardy 64-bit, and have
noticed my ripping speeds drop from about 12-14x down to about 5x or so.
Here's the hdparm output info:

As an additional note, it seems to vary quite dramatically depending on
the disc. Some discs rip at an almost normal rate, whereas others seem
to go much more slowly. Yet some of the discs that rip slowly don't
appear to have any damage, etc. Very odd, but there we go!

has made the tasks application almost unusable for my type of work, and

It's perhaps not a common problem for a power user with a single
monitor, but a beginner will often open several instances of a program
without realizing it, and they're the ones usually bringing up help. I
reported this because this happened with my mom. I kept showing her how
useful help was, but
I can confirm this as well. This can be VERY annoying, please fix.

The standard method of moving any panel icon is to right click on it and
click move. This option is not available for this icon. Thus I now have
a huge gap surrounding my wireless icon, which looks rather odd!
