Looks like this bug was already reported, closed (which is maybe why I
couldn't find it in a search), and they aren't going to add this
feature. Why did Ubuntu switch to Empathy again? The developer's
response was to write a separate application:

transferring data from a network drive and you try to cancel the
transfer and unmount the drive you get this dialog.

server. So when you enter a password, it tries to use that password to
join the server and fails (because there is no password required to join

Is there a status on this issue? Is there a fix available? I tried
pommed and it did allow for keyboard and display brightness adjustment,
with some configuration, a side effect was an extremely sensitive track
pad and disabled the muti-touch trackpad functionality.

Hi- I have an HP dv2000. A recent upgrade has made it impossible for me
to control my screens backlight as well. The fn F7/F8 keys don't work,
and the gnome brightness applet does not work. Also, non of the
mentioned work-arounds appear to be working on my machine either.

I can confirm an ro problem with autofs accessing cifs shares in 9.10.
My workaround is to access the share via places->network to get rw
access. This problem exists on both the i386 and amd64 versions on 2
machines. autofs and smbfs packages installed, auto.smb enabled,
credentials file created, -
The workaround in autofs is to add -gid=1000,uid=1000 (e.g.) to the map
in auto.master so the directories created by autofs become owned by user
1000. That allows that user rw access. The problem is that autofs sets
the directories rwx for owner and just r for group and other. I think
autofs should

citation handy but the idea was to dismount network mounts earlier in
the shutdown process. It was a script to add to the shutdown pile that

1) Open Evolution
2) Configure an imap account. I used Gmail and a Google Apps account, so my
email address, imap.google.com for the server with SSL enabled.

Oops, one reverse build depends I missed from libgladeui-1-dev <-

I see gtk-3-0 was upgraded recently, going to add as an affected
project.
This is trivially reproducible on a Live session, just do gedit
/var/log/*.log and wait about 5 seconds.

1. Open a terminal
2. ssh localhost -Y
3. Run pidgin &
