I've had the same problems. I looked in my Xorg.0.log file for how it
was describing my repeated disconnect/reconnect of my usb keyboard, and
saw mention of 'evdev' every time.

saying it's dealt with in the hal package. However, my system is using
hal version 0.5.11-4ubuntu4 and is still suffering from it, even tho
that bug reporte says 0.5.10 had the workaround in it. Perh
