I have the same problem as you do. The same error. This appears to be a
breakage by some of the latest Karmic updates.

Binary package hint: rhythmbox
When I start some track, I can select another track and start it with
Return button. But if I wait for next track to start, starting with
Return button stops working. I can make it work again by double-clicking
and starting a track with my mouse
