Hey Martin, this happens to me only when I have Assistive Technologies
enabled (System->Assistive Technologies->Enable Assistive Technologies).
Do you have them enabled as well?

In Hardy, GIMP 2.4 used to have the accessibility information complete
(at least for window names), but in Intrepid, GIMP 2.6.1 main window has
no accessibility information. See screenshot.
This information is necessary for desktop testing purposes.
