Nothing has changed here either configuration-wise or with versions (all updates are scheduled manually) - but I am now connected to gtalk again. I don't what risk to expect from updating gabble and the libraries that it depends on - which is my point. On this box I cannot do anything that risks an application unexpectedly dying because I've upgraded one of its libraries. You may well be right that it will never make into the standard maver
