pdftoppm -mono really bad rendering

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: poppler-utils
when using pdftoppm -mono font rendering is really bad. It looks like as if
antialiasing is applied before halftoning, fonts appear scraggly. Also applies
to vector graphics.
Same happens when printing to my mono-laser printer from okular.
I'm still looking forward to seeing out-of-the-box subpixel-support in
libpoppler. What's the news since November?

Issue is fixed, kmilo now receives fakekey-events and forwards to
guidance-power-manager by a dcop call. guidance uses dbus in order to
tell hald to actually change brightness.
