I'm using Karmic and the bug seems to be still here. I mean, I have an
external hdd, but I want gnome-volume-manager to automount only one
partition, so I put in my fstab something like this:

/media/Monolith hfsplus force,user
There is a patch from Fedora that kind of fixes this bug: bluetooth,
volume, network manager and battery stay on the right, all the other
icons on the left

I just installed Maverick, and this bug is still here: empathy uses
different status icons from the rest of the desktop. I think #490313 is
a slightly different bug though.

This has to do with consistency, EOG and Evince are very similar but the
scroll wheel behaves differently, this is rather surprising. Since it's
just about changing a default gconf value, I think this should be done.
