Furtuer investigation turned out that there's something to do with
NVIDIA driver, that when starting suspend, the display would wake for a
moment before really entering suspend.
When display is turned on or turned off, gnome-shell files an event to
enable/disable touchscreen, so that the touchscre
I was also affected by this issue, and opened a duplicate bug (which is
now closed): https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
terminal/+bug/2089835. The symptoms are exactly the same: freezing for
about 2 seconds, then crashing all windows.
For me it's very reproducible. Fresh Ubuntu 24.04
Enable udev debug by adding udev.log-priority=debug to kernel parameter.
I notice that the in 61-gdm3.rules, the condition for
gdm_hybrid_nvidia_laptop_check [1] will be fulfilled early then kernel
module nvidia_drm been inserted. So the "prefer xorg" logic [2] won't be
executed.
