Mouse starts stuttering/lagging. If I run `top` in the terminal, I can
see gnome-shell spike to 90%+ CPU usage when I move my mouse. If I stop
moving mouse, it will settle back down. Only 1 gnome-shell extension
installed (Unite), which I tried disabling, but stuttering didn't

Going on three months of an unacceptably broken desktop installation in
which not a single thumbnail will render. The lack of any
troubleshooting information or indication of what is wrong only adds to
the frustration.

If you happen to be using Nvidia as the primary GPU then I would suggest
looking at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/3579
You're probably using Intel as the primary GPU though... That said, the
same issue might affect all drivers, just Nvidia moreso.

It looks like you have rediscovered bug 2003168 even though it was meant
to be fixed. The simple answer is either delete all local extensions:
cd ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/
rm -rf extensions
or if you want to keep using dash-to-dock then you must:
gnome-extensions disable ubuntu-d...@ubun
Just to be sure that was the only crash, please follow these steps to
check for other crashes:
1. Run these commands:
journalctl -b0 > journal.txt
journalctl -b-1 > prevjournal.txt
and attach the resulting text files here.
2. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu
