My freezes with nouveau are just the typical nouveau repeatedly crashing
in the kernel:

I even set up Noble on my desktop to remove all the eGPU/Thunderbolt
problems. And there, this bug doesn't occur at all (even without the
fix). So I guess the issue outlined in comment #8 is somewhat hardware
specific.

Daniel, hello,
I had crashes with original mutter version in noble and with version
46.1-2ubuntu1.
Then I disabled tiling-assistant extension (as it was suggested in this ticket)
and didn't have any crashes since then.
I installed 46.2-1ubuntu0.24.04.1 once it become available in proposed
updat

I installed the 4 listed new debs and rebooted. First time unplugging
the external display Gnome crashes again. So unfortunately these do not
fix the problem on my side.
