@seb128 just booted into a live ISO for Ubuntu 23.10, just to test
without installing etc, and still getting the "Failed to retrieve share

Left Ctrl for pointer location is working in Ubuntu 23.10 for me.
Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically
gather debugging information, in a terminal:

Yes error reporting was broken until recently (bug 2038650) so please
check that you have that fix too (apport >= 2.27.0-0ubuntu5).
