Thanks for the bug report. In your video I can see two causes that are
not really bugs:
* Firefox using CPU at the same time as gnome-shell means it is Firefox
causing the persistent CPU usage in gnome-shell. Make sure Firefox isn't
displaying animations like web ads. Even if that doesn't look lik

I think the reason you find Xorg is more fluid might be because you're
using two GPUs (Intel + AMD) and mutter's Wayland handling of secondary
GPUs is sometimes inefficient. To prove that is the issue, you can try
unplugging the external monitor(s) and just compare the laptop screen

Indeed per the upstream discussion there *might* be things that can be
improved in mutter to reduce this problem. But at the same time it is
somewhat expected behaviour. Only unexpected above some unknowable
threshold of CPU usage that is system-dependent.

issue remains.

Inspired by BloodyIron's comments above, I investigated this issue and
was able to develop a patch that solves this problem for my use case:

that the gvfsd-smb-browse process is left in a bad state after
