Hi Daniel,
Where can I find these extensions?
They are not in apt search, .local/share/gnome-shell/extensions or in
extensions app.
I did an apt get update and installed the new gdm3 version you mention.
Then sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm3 and now it actually showed me the choice
between lightdm an
Please double check that the installed gdm3 version is 41.3-1ubuntu2 and
not 41.3-1ubuntu1.
You can disable extensions in the 'Extensions' app. If that's not
already installed then:
sudo apt install gnome-shell-extension-prefs

session where you had the issue by doing
$ journalctl -b - > log
where '-n' is the number of restart since you got the issue (-1 for
example if you restarted and are still using the same session)
and add log to the report

Yes, this is still a problem. Please see post #5 above and /bugs/1897185 where
I posted earlier information. As noted by fchen, this started with Ubuntu
updates and has been a problem ever since, though I started seeing it months
ago.

I think this also happens on the first live session screen. That's a
gnome-shell process running as user ubuntu (999). It's a Xorg session
rather than Wayland, also supported by the information in comment #2.
