It's weird that downgrading gnome-desktop binaries fixes the issue since
there is no actual changes to the source between the versions, it was
mostly just version bumps for the GNOME about dialog...

OK, after tinkering a bit, I think I have found a way to reproduce it
easily: it seems that the browser crashes whenever you type something
that matches one of the URIs stored in the browser's history. So the
crash is probably related to the address bar's auto-completion /

I do confirm the same problem of getting 200% scaling instead of 125%
(or any other else) in a Dell XPS 15 9560 laptop with GeForce GTX 1050
Mobile and nvidia-driver-460 (propietary, tested) with an Ubuntu 20.04
LTS just installed.

I did install Ubuntu 10.04 over ten years ago from a CD-Rom.
Maybe I once uninstalled the permanent dock, maybe it never was the in 16.04 or
18.04.
I did install the dock, but that changes nothing in regard to my
problem.
