Hi Daniel, I disabled all of these extensions, and then rebooted the

freeze. Here are the logs from gnome-shell:

Thanks Daniel.
BIOS Update was done under Windows/HP Tools before I installed Ubuntu.
xrandrv.txt is attached. edids.bin would not attach, as it was empty.
I tried various display settings, which all worked, but within the top half
of the screen.

Thanks. That confirms there is no EDID coming from the screen, so Linux
has to guess about the signalling method.
Turns out you're not the first to encounter this bug:

So the good news is the hardware is not faulty but just unusual.

Thanks. I can't see anything definite in that log. The next thing to try
is to disable all extensions (even the Ubuntu ones) via the Extensions
app. Then log in again and tell us if the freeze persists.

Also, next time the freeze happens please reboot and then run:

Thanks for the bug report. Unfortunately I can't seem to reproduce this

Also worth noting:
* Ubuntu 20.10 and 21.04 both seem to toggle (hide) the password as soon
as you hit Enter.
* The GUI process (gnome-shell owned by user 'gdm') should vanish as
soon as you log in. So it shouldn't remember anything. Maybe then the
first problem is your login screen's gnome-shell
