I'm having this problem years later in Gnome 3.36.3, Ubuntu 20.04.1. It
also happened in 19.x. I don't think it's a duplicate of #1181666
because that states some interaction is still possible. In this issue

Ubuntu 19.10 is not supported. It reached end of life on July 17, 2020.
This is a bug/design feature of Xorg graphics drivers like Nvidia and
AMD's. You can work around it either by explicitly configuring the
driver to sync to the fastest monitor, or by enabling "TearFree" if

I note that the mutter reported was using mutter 3.36.6 - this is
currently in focal proposed as well.
I'll do a quick test later - do you think this is a potential blocker
issue for the mutter migration to release?

Ok. On my low end celeron based intel graphics laptop the existing 20.04.1
version of mutter on the iso has this blinking problem.
So the uplift to v3.36.6 version of mutter in proposed does not regress
further than it already is.

It is great to see that Emojis are shown in Ubuntu 20.04 in most apps. But it
is not consistent which emoji foint is shown. I had to delete other emoji fonts
than the Noto Color Emoji package to have Noto be shown in Wire Messenger and
Evolution.
But with only Noto installe
That is not an upstream fix. A user contributed that fix and it is for
GNOME's russian translation team to pick that up. When, if or how I
don't know.

There's no sense stalling the entire focal update for just this fix. We
