I have same issue on intel laptop with intel graphics.
But I not use gdm, I use lightdm and x11 session.
Maybe using gdm hides this issue on non-nvidia as gdm starts in wayland

that helps.

Yes, I wanted to keep the changes minimal initially, as the reporter
mentioned that that commit was enough, but I can reiterate with the
whole change that is in fact complete with the whole set.

A crash must be fixed, anyway.
I've experienced it myself. It can be easily replicated using a remote shell to
launch gnome-session in an Xvfb display:
Xvfb -ac :100 2> Xvfb.log &
DISPLAY=:100
export DISPLAY
gnome-session --session=ubuntu
After that, gdm crashed. I had gdm debug
Public bug reported:
Screen Sharing option is missing in 20.10, but exists in 20.04.
ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.10
Package: gnome-control-center 1:3.37.90-1ubuntu1
ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.4.0-42.46-generic 5.4.44
Uname: Linux 5.4.0-42-generic x86_64
ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0u
I've never actually used it before so I don't know all the steps. But
the change in the GUI seems suspicious.

I did some testing with libreoffice (calc, writer) and it seems that the bug is

(I didn't try wine).

Public bug reported:
Most of the times I click on the applet on the top right to change
layout, MATE completely freezes (I can't click anything, but the clock
keeps going). Only thing I can do is either restart lightdm or reboot.
The workaround I use is using the keyboard shortcut to change layout
I just did a right click copy and paste in writer and it works the 1st
time, 2nd time it uses the 1st copy not the 2nd. And so on. All said to
be fixed in the next version - at this rate in a month or 2.

I'm also seeing this problem with 20.04.1 with all the latest patches.
I have an AMD GPU (Vega 64), and dual monitors (5k2k and 4k, with
display scaling 125%). Interestingly the extra cursor shows up larger
than my normal cursor, and doesn't show up in screen shots like the
normal cursor.

Looks like the removal of the solid background option was one dev's
