has a usable desktop area of 1024x768. For gnome-shell this just means
it won't draw any panel/launcher etc. Because it prefers to only do that
on the primary monitor, which there is none.

On my laptop that I keep running but suspend/resume multiple times per
day, the gnome-shell process which GDM keeps running in the background
has some type of memory leak. It is currently up to 2 GiB after an
"uptime" of 28 days. No issues with the actual gnome-shell process

To manage notifications about this bug
The first thing we need to check is what extensions might be installed
system-wide that could interfere with the login screen. Please run
'gnome-shell-extension-prefs' and disable/remove all but the three
Ubuntu-default extensions. Then reboot.
