Oddly enough I was able to get 200% scaling to work randomly by not
quite lining up all the monitors and offsetting them from each other in
the settings window.
Is there anything I could try manually to unbreak the situation or is
there a debian package I could downgrade to in order to get scaling
FWIW, if I switch to using the noveau driver and then login via Wayland,
I can enable fractional scaling through Settings and that is successful,
but unfortunately then all the text in some apps becomes rather blurry.

Actually after testing this out, I was able to use fractional scaling
with X11 again by using the nouveau driver instead of the proprietary
nvidia driver, which on my machine is at nvidia-440. This is a
sufficient work-around for me, it's unfortunate I can't use the
proprietary nvidia driver with f

I decided to go upstream and replace 19.10 by 20.04. I also slected 3rd
party options to exclude the NVIDIA driver during install. I currently
have no issues but know now how to report a bug when it appears. I may

I see this issue in focal. Nothing happens if I try to enable or disable
a source in the "Other Software" tab by clicking a checkbox. I get the
same error message as mentioned in comment #2 if I start software-
properties-gtk in terminal.

On focal, with gnome-shell 3.36.0-2ubuntu1 and 3.36.0-2ubuntu2, if you
open a few applications, such as gnome-disks, nautilus and firefox, then
move a window to a diff

Yes, X11 and GNOME have two separate clipboards. This has been true for
as long as I remember (though not saying it's a good thing)...
To paste from the X11 one use your middle mouse button. To paste from
the GNOME one use Ctrl+V or a right-click context menu.
