How quickly is Ubuntu likely to be refreshed with the fix? I don't mind
minimized windows pseudo-reappearing after the overview screen closes,
but they also do the same on every right mouse click in many apps, and

I am having the same problem. My work-around was to install XFCE from
the Ubuntu repository. As soon as I logged into an XFCE session instead
of a GNOME session the problem disappeared completely. I think the
people who support mutter have this as a high severity bug.

Perhaps libpango1.0-0 could be added to 20.04 as a transitional package?
This issue presented itself when installing Minecraft.deb on 20.04

Note: In Bionic - I haven't checked exhaustively - libpango1.0-0 is a
transitional package, and
libpango-1.0-0 is the actual package. Perhaps Focal Fossa should continue to
ship the transitional
package to keep Minecraft folk from encountering this. Not sure what policy
applies.
