This happens when copying files using nautilus. I can copy files using a
terminal (e.g. gio copy) and another file manager, e.g. double
commander. Earlier I observed that this happens when copying photos and

I also still have this issue with the default 18.04.1 version. However,
i installed a newer mesa version (which also upgrades a bunch of other
dependencies) using the padoka stable ppa and since then the issue is
gone.

I have the same issue. Alt-f2 r helps.
If the issue is connected to some app that adds its indicator, but makes
it disappear in certain conditions, then it could be yd-tools. Recently
I've switched to Yandex Disk cloud and yd-tools add an indicator for
their daemon.
So, yd-tools can be connected.

Nautilus corrupts 7z archive files when extracting via 'Extract here' context
menu.
Extractions completes without errors, but the files are corrupted (mangled
bytes, wrong size).
This does happen only when extracting with 'Extract here' context menu action.
Using 7z or p7zip
FYI I ran across this in January 2019 on 18.04. In my case setting
permissions on wodim (as outlined in the original bug description) fixed
it for me.

Thank you for your bug report, that's not something Ubuntu is going to
work on, also nautilus is probably the wrong place for adding disk modes
handling since it's only an application and not autostarted on boot
