if I open system monitor first and then double click on the movie file,
video playback is perfectly smooth! The moment I close system monitor
during the playback it becomes laggy again.

Nope. Not completely sure, sorry. I didn't compile GNOME apps before, so
that would probably be a rather heavy task for me ;) I had a quick look
at the 3.30.0 source but couldn't even find out which lines were changed
by the Debian patch. Aren't the patches included within the source tar?

Not sure if this is the same bug, but recently I've lost the ability to
use the Enter key on the window menu. Alt+Space works, the Up/Down
arrows work on the menu, but pressing Enter does nothing. Are these
things related somehow?
