It's not visible in metacity-theme-viewer. What is visible here is the

You're right, sorry for the lack of context!
The issue is systematically reproduced when I boot on Ubuntu 18.04, with
auto-login enabled and DESKTOP_SESSION=ubuntu. When the desktop appears,
I have a window prompting my password to unlock the keyring: I enter it
and then some time later (~10/15 se
harfbuzz 1.8.2-2 has been synced from Debian to Ubuntu Cosmic (will
become 18.10).
Since you mentioned kitty, I requested that synced as well (bug
1780551), so it too will be available in the next Ubuntu release. :)

STARTTLS after connecting on Ubuntu 16.04.

gdm3 failing to start is part of the boot process. But I'm happy to
change it back.

I have serious doubts it is the same issue.
Even with haveged installed I do not get gdm3 to start as I have stated several
times already.
