always) when I lock the screen and try to login after some time, the
screen is unlocked like it should be, but a few seconds later th
gnome-calculator is seeded in bionic as a snap, so it's translations are
bundled in the snap. However, if you choose to install the deb or
upgraded from artful, it'll need the translations in the lang pack. I'm
guessing the template was deactivated when the snap was seeded.

I have the same problem in Ubuntu 16.04.4 x64. I'm using the white Xbox
One Controller. The light just start blinking and never paired the
controller.
Researching on forums i find a trick to solve the problem. But that just
works one time. After that the problem returns.
The trick is

this behavior affects all apps that call pkexec, if the auth dialogue is
cancelled then issue occurs.
After occurring pkexec cannot be used until gnome-shell is restarted.
Does not occur with gnome-shell (3.28.0-0ubuntu5)

Confirmed in Ubuntu 18.04. In fact it's been broken for so long that I
think most of us forgot it used to be transparent. But you can still see
the transparency flicker in and out sometimes.
