When I start screencast by pressing Alt+Ctrl+Shift+R, it auto-stops
itself exactly after 30 seconds. That is highly unexpected, there is no
explanation as to why the sudden stop. That leaves me confused as an
user.

Possibly as with comment #10 when an extension was enabled however in my
case it happens mostly when updating software or in yesterdays case I

On a default Bionic Desktop installation, gnome-software starts early and slows
down session startup. In the bootchart attached, it overlaps with gnome-shell
startup which is also resource intensive.
With gnome-software delayed gnome-shell starts 2 seconds faster.

Another note, I'm able to make chrome usable on my external monitor by
opening it using the following command. Obviously if I move chrome to my
4k laptop monitor it becomes unusable. But just documenting it as

What I did was profile gnome-shell using sysprof, and I found that file
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgobject-2.0.so.0.5502.0 uses 25.06% of CPU
time by itself. My guess is that it's called/utilized very frequently.

I have ubuntu 10.10 with Xorg Gnome desktop, intel i915 driver and two monitors
attached.
gnome-shell causes a very high CPU load which seems to make the system unusable
sluggish.
When moving a window the CPU usage of gnome-shell raises to over 90 %.
