On copying larger files, my system syslog showed multiple times
usb 9-2.4: reset SuperSpeed USB device number 4 using xhci_hcd
As root the following command line fixed the issue with the usb storage driver
modprobe -v usb-storage quirks=0x174c:
Regarding my previous comment - much better to add this line to a file
in /etc/modprobe.d/
e.g. usbquirks.conf

Another observation: This problem is not limited to Nautilus. Thus going
back to Nautilus 3.26.0 will not help.
==Steps to reproduce for other apps==
1) Open nautilus
2) click on the nautilus entry in the top bar (left of "activities".
3) Select "Help"
4) nautilus exits, yelp doesn't come up

Is that a Mutter or Gnome-shell regression? Is it going to be fixed
upstream? It seems that some (XDG?-) handover between some gnome apps
doesn't work as expected and both apps have to exit.

I've just tried to plug in 3 known-working USB sticks into this UB daily
build, with content on the USB sticks that I access from other *buntu
machines, and with each stick I got the same result - "unable to access
- read-only file system".
So that's a pretty significant bug, I'd say.

Yeah, indeed.. yet another issue due to switching to the meson build
system. Those particular strings don't exist upstream any longer,
though.
There are also other, more important .desktop files in gnome-session
where translations are broken. I submitted a merge proposal.
