When I choose to use the Nvdia-340.104 driver, I can not login from the
GDM screen.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to "Software and Updates > Additional Drivers", choose NVDIA Corporation:
G86M [Quadro NVS 140M] - Use NVDIA binary driver version 340.104, apply.
2. Reboot.
3. Type
Please try changing your password to purely US English characters and
tell us if that works around the bug. I am reminded of similar bug
reports such as bug 1566357 and bug 1716159.

3.27.4 not 3.26. So you're right it needs to be brought into bionic separately
(or gnome-software in bionic needs to move to 3.27.x)

I did further investigation。 The reason is that, when using
Nvdia-340.104 driver, I am not able to type any UPPERCASE letters using
the CapsLk key. I discovered this when I click the "Not listed?" link
and then type letters in the username input field. All appercase letters
are accepted as lowercas
