I did it. The only crash that did not open ubuntu-bug was
"_usr_bin_gnome-shell.1000.crash". I don't know if that is relevant to
the problem.

In a fresh boot (after powered off) size changed to normal only with
restarting environment. If gnome-teak-tool is used, size could change
from small to tiny only. Although, after restarting environment (alt+f2
+r) then gnome-teak-tool do the job as well.

For me this happens after connecting to a bluetooth device. Everything

Figured out how to reproduce this:
Appended screenshot 1 demonstrates how my favorites bar looks like
normally.
When scrolling down with two fingers with the mouse over the bar, the

not having seen it for a long while.
Though I'm running 16.04 now, this issue goes back to Ubuntu 12.04 - at
