Ubuntu 17.04 amd64 upgraded from 16.10 on a Thinkpad T460p, gnome-
flashback Compiz session.
The Fn keys (media keys, brightness, XF86Search, etc.) have stopped working:
all except XF86WLAN, which manages to toggle the wireless state, do nothing.

se.

I am having this problem as well to the point that I can't use my
desktop. The only solution I have found is to install a different
distro or version of Ubuntu other than 16.04.

Thank you for taking the time to report this crash and helping to make
this software better. This particular crash has already been reported
and is a duplicate of bug #1505409, so is being marked as such.
This appears to persist in 17.04I installed Ubuntu Server first, and
then installed Xubuntu via Tasksel because I needed to do some
additional setup before any display manager would be able to function. I
also tried MATE and LXDE on the same system, and they did not appear to
suffer from this i
