they assume that if wayland is not using in gdm that's because it's not
working on the configuration so there is no point listing a session
which is not going to work

Had this problem happen to me on 16.04.2. killall nautilus worked for
me, and doesn't come back across multiple unplugs and restarts of
nautilus.
