The error message appears after the desktop loads on Ubuntu 16.04 which
I recently upgraded from 15.10.
The system asks me if I want to report the problem, other than that, I
know nothing.

I checked today the daily image of 16.04.1 LTS and there also everything
works as expected.

sudo passwd=> set password for root, confirm
su => enter root prompt
passwd pentoo => set temporary password for pentoo user
