Title:
gvfs-smb-browse hogs CPU after only opening nautilus
To
After recently upgrading to the latest version of the numix-gtk-theme
from the PPA I decided to switch to it, however up on doing so I
triggered this issue. When I switched back to Adwaita however the issue
went as well.
Now however, even after switching back to Adwaita, the issue still
persists.
If I end the Nautilus process and then start it from Terminal this is
the output:
(nautilus:11557): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to register client:
GDBus.Error:org.gnome.SessionManager.AlreadyRegistered: Unable to register
client
Initializing nautilus-dropbox 2015.10.28
(nautilus:11557): Gtk-WARNIN
I have now also noticed that if I am to end the Nautilus process, then
my desktop background shows as it is meant to everywhere. But starting
Nautilus again makes the desktop grey again.

I still have this bug. It is one of the most frustrating things as we
all know that it must be a simple fix. if mv works why does moving large
volumes of files graphically have to be so slow. Its faster copying then
deleting.

The following worked for me:
Add to each affected /etc/fsab line:
comment=systemd.automount
So, for example:
//192.168.1.100/shared /media/shared cifs
comment=systemd.automount,credentials=…

The problem is that the old ubuntu-software was replaced by GS in 16.04.
It is a LTS, it is supposed to be stable and trust me, some
professionnals are really pissed of. I have to fix it for free for my
customers or they will ask to leave Ubuntu...

Unfortunately the "solution" from @unhammer removes the messaging applet
