I use Ub. Gnome 16.04. If I use lightdm, the bug happens (one thread,
gvfs-smb-browse using 100 % of a virtual CPU) when I open Nautilus. I
switched back to gdm (NB : gdm is not working with Nvidia proprietary
drivers...) (!!!) and I do not see this high CPU usage.

My workaround for a moment - run xrandr command to change monitor
position on startup.
