right, the point is that graphical applications are not meant to be used
as superuser, it's insecure and leads to integration issue. There is
ongoing work to teach nautilus to use proper mechanisms to do actions
that require extra privilege which is a better way

transitioning from wifi to mobile seem better (presumably because less
dbus signal watchers are registered now for all the traffic that happens
on a switch?).

I ended up doing a lot more work on this, which I then reported as Ubuntu bug
#1519098, with an upstream Gnome bug report at:
Gnome bug #758581 that you looked at earlier today. This bug can be closed
now I have located the cause. I had tried to report this bug to the Evolution
project team,
well, the bug is with the underlining library used and triggered by
trying to delete anything which is not on the local filesystem, trash
being one case but e.g bug #1510587 is about symlink on external mounts
and has the same cause ... maybe let's wait to land the fix and see it
fixes your issue a

Works for me! Just had to change the target device in the script.
It's not really fixing the Gnome-Disk-Utility Bug, I guess. But the script
keeps my harddrive on 254 APM-Level after suspend/resume.
