Looking at the upstream bug, some users seem to get this working with
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.xrandr default-monitors-
setup do-nothing, which is the fix released for Elementary OS. Those
still affected, could you confirm if this helps?

This bug just surfaced in Ubuntu 14.04 after doing an update a few days ago. I
did a locate kde.xml, as ir was mentioned in another comment, and found it here:
/usr/share/mime/packages/kde.xml
I guess some program had it down as a dependency, so now I have it under
gnome.

I can confirm that this is still a problem with 15.04. Had Xorg crash,
rebooted and now Ctrl+Alt+T doesn't work.

I have the same issue. I am on Ubuntu 14.04 64, Unity
When any application is in fullscreen mode (let it be skype,
QtCreator...anything) when I try to swap to another workspace by
ctrl+alt+arrows, compiz crashes and the cpu load goes to 100%
Restarting lightdm does not solve it...only solution is
OMFG, I just ran updates, rebooted, and my screen positions were
preserved! I hope this is actually fixed... Thanks to whoever might
have done this... !
